The idea behind Piatta was to design a chair that can be knocked down flat and easily assembled. Especially with regard to the increasing online trade in the furniture industry, the chair enables space-saving storage and compact shipping.
At the same time, Piatta offers great seating comfort in everyday use, thanks to the interplay of plywood (seat) and moulded felt (backrest).
Through the combination of moulded felt, plywood and solid wood, Piatta unites the main manufacturing competences of Becker Brakel in one design.
The backrest is made of moulded PET-felt. The component is pressed flat and it is only when it is attached to the chair that the bend in the backrest is created. The bending is possible because the part has more and less compressed areas, which makes the material partially stiff and partially flexible. The „pads“ enable the backrest to bend but also act as a cushion.
